Case Information (PACER)

PACER

The federal judiciary's PACER system (Public Access to Court Electronic Records) allows users to retrieve case and docket information from federal appellate, district, and bankruptcy courts, and to conduct a nationwide search using the PACER Case Locator.

Register and Login

Obtain a login and password from the PACER Service Center, the judiciary's centralized, registration, billing, and technical support center, to be used for access to electronic case information at any federal court.

Cost

PACER access charges are $.10 per page, with a $3 upper limit on charges for most documents.  The PACER Service Center bills users each quarter if quarterly charges exceed $15. There is no charge for quarterly usage of less than $15. Local, state, and federal governments pay $.08 per page until April 1, 2015, when their rate increases to $.10 per page.

Training, Documentation & FAQs

PACER is simple enough that little user training is needed.  A full user manual, training site, training tutorial, and FAQs are offered through the PACER Service Center.

PACER Case Locator, Mobile Case Locator & Court Sites

The PACER Case Locator is a national index for U.S. district, bankruptcy and appellate courts. The system allows you to conduct nationwide searches to determine whether or not a party is involved in federal litigation. PACER also offers a mobile case locator and a list of court PACER sites if you wish to search within a particular court.
