Public Advisory #3– Overflow Courtroom Seating for May 8, 2017, Oral Argument in No. 17-1351, International Refugee Assistance Project v. Trump

 

Courtroom Seating:  To accommodate public interest, an audio-video feed of the oral argument will be broadcast to two overflow courtrooms – the Blue Courtroom on the third floor (Room 339) and the Red Courtroom on the fourth floor (Room 412).  Seating passes for the overflow courtrooms will be distributed at the Main Street and Bank Street entrances to the Courthouse beginning at 8:30 a.m. on May 8.  All courtroom doors will open at 12:30 p.m.

 

En Banc Panel:  The composition of the en banc panel will be posted at the Courthouse and released in a Public Advisory on the web page at 8:30 a.m. on May 8.

 

Real-Time Audio:  Real-time audio of the oral argument will be available through C-Span and other media outlets, as well as on the Court’s web site, beginning at 2:30 p.m. on May 8.  The audio file will be available for download approximately an hour after the argument concludes.   • Date & Time:  Monday, May 8, 2017, 2:30 p.m. The Courthouse doors will open at 8:30 a.m.  All courtroom doors will open at 12:30 p.m.
  • Location: Lewis F. Powell, Jr., United States Courthouse, 1000 East Main Street, Richmond, Virginia 23219. For directions, parking, and entry information, see Visiting the Court.
  • Security Screening: Photo identification is required. Do not bring restricted items, such as electronic devices, weapons, food, or beverages.  See Electronic Device Policy.
  • Media Seating: Media representatives with reserved seating must check in at the Butzner En Banc Courtroom by 1:30 p.m. on May 8, or your reserved seat will be subject to release. 
  • Media Audio-Feed Requests: Media organizations may apply to share C-Span’s live audio feed of the oral argument by submitting a Media Request on the Court’s web site Contact page (www.ca4.uscourts.gov/contact) by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017.
  • Media Satellite Vehicles: Satellite vehicles may park on both sides of 10th Street between Main and Bank Streets.
  • Press Conferences and Public Gatherings:  Press conferences, media interviews and other public gatherings must be conducted off the Courthouse property and Courthouse steps and must not impede public access to the Courthouse.
