Public Advisory – December 12, 2019, Oral Arguments in No. 18-2486, In re: Trump and No. 18-2488, District of Columbia v. Trump

Case Information:  The court granted rehearing en banc from the panel decisions in these two cases:

Argument Date & Time:   Thursday, December 12, 2019, 9:00 a.m.  One hour of argument time is allotted per case, with 30 minutes per side in each case.

Location:  Lewis F. Powell, Jr., United States Courthouse, 1000 East Main Street, Richmond, Virginia 23219.  For directions, parking, and entry information, see Visiting the Court.

Security Screening: Bring photo identification and allow sufficient time to pass through security screening.  Do not bring restricted items, such as electronic devices, weapons, food, or beverages.  See Electronic Device Policy.

Courtroom and Panel:  Argument will be heard in the Butzner En Banc Courtroom on the second floor (Room 201). The identity of the en banc panel will be released on the morning of argument.

Overflow Courtroom: An audio-video feed of the argument will be broadcast to the Red Courtroom on the fourth floor (Room 412).

Public Seating: Public seating will be on a first-come, first-seated basis.

Oral Argument Real-Time Audio and Audio Files:  The court will post a link to Real-Time Audio during oral argument on its website.  The court will also post an audio file of the oral arguments on the Listen to Oral Arguments page approximately an hour after the arguments conclude.

Media Real-Time Audio Requests: C-Span will serve as the pool-feed for real-time audio of the oral arguments on December 12, 2019, at 9:00 a.m. Other media organizations may apply for access to the feed by submitting a Media Request on the Court’s Contact page (www.ca4.uscourts.gov/contact) by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2019.

Reserved Media Seating:  The deadline for reserved media seating is 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. One representative from each news organization may request reserved seating on the Contact page of the court's Web site by selecting the Media Seating category in the dropdown menu. Include your name, title, news organization, address, email address, and phone number with your request for media seating.  You must check in with media credentials at the courtroom by 8:30 a.m. on December 12, or your reserved seat will be subject to release.  Media representatives who are not on the reserved seating list may use public seating on a first-come, first-seated basis.

Press Conferences and Public Gatherings:  Press conferences, media interviews and other public gatherings must be conducted off the courthouse property and courthouse steps and must not impede public access to the courthouse.
