If you have a minute and want to do something to help further civics education, recommend this program to your friends and family members.
Earlier this year the Bolch Judicial Institute of Duke Law School launched a new program: Civics Breaks. This program is a non-partisan course that examines the rule of law, how it fits into the American democratic system, what judges do, and how courts and judges affect our lives.
This free online course has been crafted for adults of any age wishing to learn more about their government. The course could be used by community groups or individuals. The content is designed to fit in three lunch sessions or in less than half of one day.
The videos are available to anyone curious about the program and can be watched at home or through a local live presentation. The Bolch Institute works to create opportunities for members of the public to speak with judges and members of the judiciary through online Q&A sessions.
