The panel shares practical tips for effective appellate advocacy, answering questions about Fourth Circuit practice and procedure and offering strategies for both written briefs and oral arguments. |

Tips and Traps in Litigating Agency Appeals and a Behind-The-Scenes Look at How Your Appeal is Processed
Join William & Mary Law School Professor Allison Orr Larsen as she moderates a discussion on litigating administrative agency appeals in the Fourth Circuit. Although the focus is on agency appeals, the session will include a behind-the-scenes look at how appeals are processed in the Fourth Circuit, including criteria considered in deciding whether to hear oral argument and the role of the Office of Staff Counsel. Panelists include John R. Grimm, Partner, Goodell, DeVries, Leech & Dann, LLP; Nwamaka Anowi, Clerk of Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit; and Christopher D. Dunn, Staff Attorney, Office of Staff Counsel, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
